Terms of service and statutory consumer information for the Academee e-learning platform.
These General Terms and Conditions (hereinafter referred to as "Terms") govern the contractual relationship between Academee E-Learning (Owner: Tom Schmitt, Sternenburgstraße 78, 53115 Bonn, Germany; hereinafter referred to as "Provider") and users of the Academee online learning platform.
Academee is a digital Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform for the interactive preparation of lecture notes, execution of spaced-repetition study sessions (FSRS), and generation of didactic mock exams. The provider offers different service tiers:
Using Academee requires the creation of a user account. By submitting the registration form, the user submits a binding offer to enter into a free-of-charge user agreement. The contract is concluded upon activation of the account or transmission of the confirmation email.
When ordering a paid subscription (Student / Pro), the user submits a binding offer by clicking the "Subscribe with obligation to pay" button within the Stripe checkout process.
All stated prices are final prices. Pursuant to Section 19 UStG, no value added tax is charged or stated (small business regulation). Billing is processed securely via Stripe.
Paid subscriptions automatically renew after the minimum contractual period for the chosen billing cycle unless cancelled in good time. Monthly plan: term and renewal of one month each; cancellation is possible at any time effective at the end of the current month without notice period. Yearly plan: a term of twelve months from the conclusion of the contract; the contract then renews automatically for a further twelve months each time. Cancellation must reach us three months before the end of the respective yearly term and takes effect at the end of the paid term. We send a renewal reminder by email at least four weeks before the end of the term. The credit allowance is refilled monthly also for the yearly plan; no further payment falls due during the year of the term.
Gesetzlicher Kündigungsbutton (§ 312k BGB): Zur Erfüllung der gesetzlichen Kündigungspflicht kann der Nutzer sein Abonnement jederzeit mit wenigen Klicks über das integrierte Stripe Customer Portal auf der Abonnementseite (#page-subscription) oder unmittelbar ohne Login über den gesetzlichen Kündigungsbutton Verträge hier kündigen (§ 312k BGB) beenden.
You have the right to withdraw from this contract within fourteen days without giving any reason. The withdrawal period is fourteen days from the date of contract conclusion.
Note on digital content (Section 356 (5) BGB): The learning worlds are made available to you immediately after purchase. By giving your consent at checkout you expressly declare that you wish to receive the service immediately and acknowledge that your right of withdrawal ends with effect from the purchase. Your right of withdrawal survives if the service is not provided immediately. The electronic withdrawal function under Section 356a BGB is available on this page under "Withdrawal function".
To exercise your right of withdrawal, you must notify us (Academee E-Learning, Sternenburgstraße 78, 53115 Bonn, Email: support@tryacademee.com) by means of a clear statement (e.g. a letter sent by post or email) of your decision to withdraw from this contract.
If you withdraw from this contract, we shall reimburse all payments received from you without undue delay and at the latest within fourteen days from the day on which we received notification of your withdrawal.

The right of withdrawal expires prematurely in contracts for the supply of digital content not supplied on a tangible medium if the consumer has expressly agreed that the trader begins performance of the contract before the expiration of the withdrawal period, and acknowledged that by giving consent they lose their right of withdrawal once performance has begun.
The learning worlds, mathematical KaTeX formulas, quizzes, and summaries provided by Academee are generated automatically using generative Artificial Intelligence (AI). The user acknowledges that, despite utmost care, AI models may produce inaccurate, incomplete, or imprecise outputs.
The content serves as a complementary study tool and does not relieve the user of their own responsibility to verify information against official examination regulations, lecture materials, and academic literature. Any liability for failed examinations, missed deadlines, or differing grading results is excluded to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.
The laws of the Federal Republic of Germany shall apply, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG). Mandatory consumer protection provisions of the state in which the consumer has their habitual residence remain unaffected.
